I didn’t go back and count, but I think it’s been eight or ten weeks since I’ve written something for the blog. How did that happen??
Actually, I know how it happened. The last few weeks of school, coupled with a busy baseball season, had me keeping my head down and plugging away at the to-do list, the chauffeuring job and the can-you-just-make-a-quick-dish events.
As usual, self-care was the first thing to go. And just like with an exercise routine - writing for me works best when I have continuity. My writing brain succumbs to atrophy and it can’t seem to get off it’s figurative couch.
Even though we’ve gotten into a workable summer routine (read: I am surviving working and having the kids home), I have had trouble sitting my butt back down into the chair to write.
So, what has me showing up today, you ask? Well, I started writing again last week when I had to come up with a sermon for the local UU church where I had offered to lead a service. And my husband is taking this week off which means I can be “all in” and focus more fully on my own stuff.
And the reality is, there is no time like the present. So, here I am, stretching my writing muscles again, ready to step into the deeper currents, the ones that call me further into the waters of presence and possibility, self-discovery and self-compassion. Thanks for taking this journey with me.
I am so glad you’re here.
What's calling to you today? What does presence and possibility have to offer you?
